
A truth that existed before Black Feminists were blamed for Birth Of A Nation’s lack of success or expected limited success depending on who you listen to or your knowledge of the independent film market.
Black feminists have been at the heart of the fight against slavery, inequality, civil rights and equality for men that have often forgotten or lacked the care to be empathetic to the challenges Black Women have and do combat. I mentioned this in my apology to Black women.
‘Black feminism is a school of thought which argues that sexism, class oppression, gender identity and racism are inextricably bound together. The way these concepts relate to each other is called intersectionality. The term intersectionality theory was first coined by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989.’
